racism

The other day we worked on our first cst response, something which i have never done before. The topic or chapter that i chose to read was about racism in the US. The article that I read talked about how racism has affected the american lifestyle and the way we americans view certain things and people. I found this to be very true. Some stuff i disagreed on like the fact that it said most cops and judges are racist. I think that racism is a big problem in american society because it effects our relationships with everyone around us and creates social injustices in society.

cauos in the middleast

Lately I've noticed that a lot of governments have been falling in the middle east and muslim countires. Counrties like Lebannon, tunisia, and now egypt. It seems that the fall of lebanons government has started a domino effect that has spread to tunisia and now egpyt. I think that the governments there needed to be collasped because of all the problems they have created for the people. Im glad that the people of these countries have risen up agaisnt these governments which have failed there people.

human dignity

Today we discussed the idea of human dignity in class. I think human dignity is a very important topic because it not only includes us but the entire world. I took in other peoples versions and blended it with mine, and kind of created my own. Human dignity is basically whats right and whats wrong. The idea of human dignity is based off our religions and our self morals. If there was no such thing as human dignity, and if there were no people who had it, then the human race would have been wiped out long ago. Human dignity is basically what sets us apart and the idea of it existing makes us human.

fright week

im going to be blogging about fright week again. I still don't understand why society and there governments allow things such as child labor, sweat shops, and genocide. I don't understand why nobody cares and when some tells them about it, the governments act like they have no idea what is going on and act like they never knew about it. Why hasn't the society or the parents of the children done anything about these problems. Besides protesting, why haven't the people responsible for these problems been arrested or tried what they are doing. I know that people protest and there are certain groups that help to stop these problems, but it always seems like nobody helps because these labor shops pop up everywhere.

social justice

This week in class wev've been reading books about problems with social justice. The two books i've read have had to do with the war on terror and the vietnam war. The injustice in the books speak about the killing of innocents and the fact certain people were going to war for the wrong reasons. The reasons were mostly about economics and to stop the spread of communism. The US military did nothing during or after the vietnam war to help veterans returning with ptsd. They did nothing to help the veterans with their pyschological problems which really angered me. During the gulf wars, the us military went over to protect their ecomomic investments, and used the reason that sadaam hussien and his governemtn were dangerous to attack.

post 3

In this blog im basically going to be summing up what i've learned over the past couple of weeks in the class. I learned the difference between justice and social justice. Justice applies more to law enforcement and social justice applies more to the community and what we are doing to help stop problems. Through watching the videos, i have learned how precious life is and to be thankful of what we have here in the US, because there are a lot of countries that are less fortunate. I learned that we have it good here. I learned how precious water is in the world and what problems we are going to have with it later in life.

child labor

Saturday January 15, 2011
My second blog entry

The topic i'm writing about is child labor. The videos that we have watched in class have opened my eyes to this controversy. Before watching the videos, i knew things like this happened but i didn't understand that they happened on such a large scale. The children are forced to work all day for little or no money. They are stripped of their childhood and brought up to be slaves. The people who are running these facilities don't seem like they have any moral values. I want to learn more about why people would do this to children and what people are doing to help stop child labor.

social justice and fright week

Monday, January 10th, 2011
My first blog entry
My topics is going social justice and firght week. The other day in class we talked and had to write about justice. We talked about the difference between justice and social justice. Justice is the equality for all people and living things. Justice provides security, fairness, and is for the well being of all people. Social justice is the same thing as justice, but it applies more directly with the communitty and society. When we think of justice, we think about court systems, police, and other things related to law. Social justice is what we the people are doing, not the law. It can apply to bullying, crime, and other social problems.

Im also interested in fright week and i want to learn more about it.

The fright week videos are disturbing and sad, but it is nesccesary to watch. We need to learn about these types of problems that happen around the world. Things slave child prostitution and slave labor should not be ignored. People also need to relaize that this can happen to anyone and that ayone can be a victim of this.
